The Bella Coola community rallies together to provide its members, both Nuxalkmc and non-Nuxalkmc recreation opportunities in the Bella Coola valley.
One of the most popular sports in the valley is basketball, with leagues for both the youth and for adults.
The Pee-wee, Midget and Junior league (PMJ) is for the youth while the Nuxalk Basketball Association (NBA) provides league play for adults in the Nuxalk Hall.

Every year the All Native Basketball Tournament
(ANBT) provides an opportunity for local teams to compete at the provincial level.
The Junior tournament is held on its own every March in different location in the province, while the adult tournament is held every February in Prince Rupert.
The Prince Rupert tournament includes intermediate, seniors and masters divisions.
In February 2007, the Nuxalk Nation sent two teams to Prince Rupert:
a Senior Mens team and a Masters team.
Members of the senior team brought home numerous trophies including all-star and most inspirational while the team was named the tournament's most sportsmanlike team.
Other sports leagues in the valley include ball hockey, volleyball (recreational and competitive divisions) and slo-pitch.
There is also a youth soccer league and adult drop in soccer.
