The Nuxalk Nation is located in the beautiful valley of Bella Coola which is situated on the central coast of British Columbia.  Our community is accessible by road, air and BC Ferries with access to fantastic outdoor recreation with an intensive parks and protected areas network.

The Nuxalk Nation consists of a total membership in excess of 1500 with approximately 850 living on the Nuxalk Reserve adjacent to the non-Nuxalk communities of Bella Coola and Hagensborg.  The Administration provides multi-faceted programs and services to the Nuxalk community which has an accredited independent school, modern infrastructure, and a progressive spirit that is seeing the Nation move quickly ahead in becoming a major economic factor in the region.

BAND MANAGER

Reporting to Chief and Council, you will provide leadership to all programs and services delivered to the community.  You will bring business acumen to the position and promote service excellence to the community.  You will be responsible for planning, financial management, and program and personnel management.  A major responsibility will be ensuring that Council goals and objectives are achieved, as well as for prudent financial management of the Nation’s resources.  You will also be expected to maintain excellent relations with INAC and other government agencies, and professional advisors. 

You have a degree in Business or other professional designation with more than 5 years working in a senior management position.  You are a creative and energetic person with proven experience in business management, budgeting, human resource management, and you possess excellent leadership capabilities that allow you to work effectively in a team environment.  You also have excellent computer skills and a strong knowledge of social and health and development issues within a First Nation environment.

Preference will be given to individuals with Aboriginal ancestry as provided for in Sections 41 and 42 of the Human Rights Code.

Salary will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.

The band manager will be hosted in the community of Bella Coola in an appropriate housing facility.
